Hi,
I'm posting this for berdalee <[email protected]>
Public and non-profit community radio stations are endangered due to a pending ruling of the copyright royalty board.* this is scheduled to come into effect on july 15th of this year and will effectively wipe-out public and non-profit web-radio due not only to a jump in royalties but to prohibitive costs of maintaining compliance with new regulations.* it will also have an impact on independently produced music that gets heard and known by way of these stations.* it could get very silent out there in cyberspace as far as music is concerned.
what you can do is contact your congressperson or representative by phone, as soon as possible before july 15th and ask them to pull support from the copyright's board ruling and to support legislation that will keep web-radio ALIVE.* if you love radio stations likeKGGVFM.org, make the call and tell your friends.
thanks so much for listening, for letting us know you are listening, and for supporting web-radio.
if you are in california, diane feinstein's number in san francisco is 415/393-0707.* she also is either in the committee or chairs the committee that addresses these regulatory issues (i don't know more than that) so it is extra important to make that call to her asap before july 15th when this ruling is scheduled to be in effect.
if you want to get a more complete skinny on the issue than my meager understandings, please go to the KPFA.org site and click on the 'recently archived' 'save web radio' link.*
thanks for your support and please pass this on to any friends you think might be interested in the support of music on web-radio.* thank you and goodnight, berdalee
