I'm dealing with a bunch of very noisy neighbors where I live and I could use some advice. The neighbors are a bunch of "drinking budies" who like to get together every other day to drink, yell, swear, etc. I've complained to the property manager several times but she employs one of them and won't evict them... and the police told me that there's no noise ordinance in Sebastopol !!!
I have a meeting with one of the "gang" next Tuesday. I requested this meeting and it was arranged by the property manager, who also manages the house that I live in. I intend to go to this meeting armed with complaints from others in the neighborhood and a formal written request for peace and quiet. I'm also considering suing in small claims court for damages ... I have unhappy roommates because of this and my health and peace of mind are severely compromised.
Has anyone else had a problem like this? ... and if so, how did you fix it? I've been here 9 years and I've put a lot of work and money into the property so I really don't want to move ...
Thanks!

If the property manager isn't responsive you might try contacting the property owner. If you have been there for a number of years and have invested energy and money in the property the owner may be willing to take steps to keep you there. If you don't know how to locate the owner the county tax records is a good way to find out who they are. Good luck.

Good Luck,
For a previous thread on a similar topic, check out:
Hi, Not only were the neighbors noisy but they had a very large dog that barked, non stop, all day and night. I dealt with it for over two years and even after MANY "discussions," nothing was done. I contacted the pound, the police, the owner and it went on and on. It was not until I threatened to sue the landlord, the occupant and the rental agency in small claims did anything happen. Within one day of my threat, the dog was removed and within a month or so, the renters were gone. Had I gone to small claims it would have been three separate cases, each worth $5000.00; I guess the responsible parties felt it was too much of a hassle and financial risk to let me go through with it. I would have! Follow through on your threats but have pictures, tapes with the time attached and so on to show the judge when you go to court.....what a pain..... I support you....
Quiet and Peaceful now.....

I don't know about Sebastopol, but Sonoma County does not have a noise ordinance either. What I've been told by the Sheriff's Dept. that all it takes is a signature on a complaint form and then they will deal with the problem.
There is also something called "Neighborhood Nuisance". You can have problem neighbors forced to move thru the small claims court system. Again - this exists in the county, but I'm not sure about Sebastopol.
Good Luck!!
