so MM made another flick, get the masses all riled up.
but what does it mean??? what happened???
Fahrenheit 9/11--------------------> Bush got re-elected
Bowling for Columbine---------------> copy cats and more guns
Sicko-------------------> probably nothing

I think the guy is going to have to die before Amerika shapes up.
which brings me to the real issue, how long can MM maintain a body like that, plumbers crack and all??
it can't be a coincidence that this one is about HEALTH care.
I can't see him living more than 5 maybe 8 years tops.
just look at how he shuffles, barely moves his limbs, none of his usual animated behavior.

Major shifts in policy usually occur after people die, e.g. JFK, MLK
and then we can give MM the healthcare he deserves posthumously

Michael Moore stated a point of view. It is up to us to respond (or not) in our own way. If you agree with him, you might try going to www.OneCareNow.org (https://www.OneCareNow.org) and seeing how each of us can contribute towards changing it. It will take more than Moore to do it. We will never know until we try. Something will be done since the current system is failing. Doctors need patients as much as patients need doctors. Lets put our voices to it.

well maybe the Real American Revolution is upon us.
you see, after Gore's movie, "Global Warming" has become the new buzz word, but business is as usual, except that everybody all of a sudden now is calling their products; 'green', 'natural','organic' or 'environmentally safe" etcetera
is Health Care going to be the new Green Buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz?

Well now, That depends on you and me, tenacity, conviction and courage. The five of us can change it. As long as we are satisfied with our cituation, we will set back and allow Kaiser or Blue Shield or whomever to tell us what health care should be like for us. I remember when herbs and homeopathy practise would get you charged with a violation of the law. It was not that long ago. A few people (really) changed that A pretty small demographic of our community started a network of food coops that led to a bakery and even a organic food trucking/distrubution system. We have great food bank systems that only came about from a few critical people getting off their backsides and deciding to act. If we meet with failure, it can only give us information on how we can succeed. We only have to be clear about what we want as an outcome. What would you see as a better system?

Michael Moore stated a point of view...

I'm a "doc" (documentary film) buff. Last night I saw one of the best, most hilarious, disgusting, enlightening, enraging, inspiring films I've ever seen--"Sicko" (at the Rialto). The place was packed, and we laughed and cried through this tour de force, which I think has the potential to galvanize the USAmerican public into some kind of fruitful action. Run, don't walk, to the theater, and tell your friends and especially your enemies. Then follow Gyro's sage advice and go to
"https://www.OneCareNow.org"

P.S. Barry, is it kosher to also post this in "Events and Classes", or is such redundancy frowned upon?

Micheal Moore has created a brilliant film in SICKO and if you have watched any recent interviews with him you can see that making the film on health not-care was a wake-up call for him. He saw that making lifestyle changes, like eating fruit and veggies, walking everyday, is the first answer to health care - doing it ourselves. He has lost weight but besides that this film creates an awareness that more than ever each of us has to take action, however we are moved to, to not blame others for what's happening.

Go see the film - you will laugh, cry and perhaps be inspired.

MM knows how to create situations and then turn them into 'documentaries", and yes he knows how play the emotional strings very well.
it makes for good entertainment!
but now what? if that new healthcare bill gets defeated, then what?
his movies leave me feeling incomplete. they don't have a beginning,a middle and an end.
but they are entertaining!

Okay Dixon, with such a rave review, I'm going to see the movie. I hadn't intended on doing so because I thought it would be like preaching to the choir, but now it sounds entertaining too.

Turning our health care over to the insurance industry is one of the most monumentally stupid things America has ever done, and we've accomplished some major doozies.

It should be obvious that a system that profits from denying service is not in our best interest, but then I thought George Bush could never get elected either.

When you first posted the MM I just assumed you where talking about Mad Miles! Not Michael Moore! LMAO I have never been able to sit through one of his films, although the message is strong, most of his films are right up there with the guy who made a movie about eating only at McDonalds for Six months, and got really sick, fat, moody, and lost his girlfriend! LMAO!!!<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

When our children were small and ever since then we didn't allow smoking in our house or cars. It made some people mad. My brother stopped coming to see us but we stood our ground because we had to endure smoking every single public place we went. We stopped going to alot of meetings and such because we knew it was terrible for all our health and made our clothes and hair stink. So now we have no smoking in many cities, counties, buses, offices, etc. Even Paris is going non smoking which is a miracle.
So when I get discouraged I think about these changes and it gives me hope.
Even at most parties now no one smokes and dirties the air for the rest of the guests. So, I think we have a chance to have health care for everyone like France because it is the right thing to do.
Michael Moore's film will help this movement.

Suzanne

I decided not to go and see sicko for several reasons. I no longer want to subject myself to watching others' misery. Don't we draw to us more of what we are attending to? I have been an RN and am fully aware of the atrocities that cause folks to lose their minds and finances by our medical treatment, lack there of due to insurance regs, and the disconnect between the providers of care and the funds. The choices re:food or medication by our poor, elderly and infirm are inhumane. I once worked at a drug and alcohol treatment center where length of treatment was determined by the insurers willingness to pay, above all else. I have yet to hear of any actual instructions re how to proceed to improve things, other than signing the petitions around. I am in favor of what I know of the bill up by kuehl. The SB # eludes me at this moment.
