Auditions for The Mythic Kitchen, a new project of The Independent Eye, are coming up on Monday, July 9, and Wednesday, July 11, at our Sebastopol studio. You're invited.
This will be an ensemble of 8-12 people meeting two evenings a month on an ongoing basis. It's to explore a wide range of mask and puppet techniques and to help us, through exploratory improvisation, to create performance projects for the future. The first will be a new staging of our play DESCENT OF THE GODDESS INANNA, scheduled for next May. And we'll be working on other myths & stories at the same time. No payment except post-workshop socializing & the experience itself.
We're also seeking 2-4 performers to be part of this but also to be part of the actual performances that emerge. We'd be offering modest payment for performances but will require a lot of rehearsal time.*
Training & experience is desirable but not an absolute requirement. What's most essential is that you move well; that you have a strong commitment to creating deeply-felt, top-quality work; and that you're an explorer.
We audition simply by asking you to be part of an evening's workshop on the 9th or 11th. You need attend only one. If you're interested but can't make either date, let us know and we'll likely be able to schedule another. Call 707-824-4307 or email [email protected] to reserve a spot.
In 33 years, moving from Chicago to Lancaster PA to Philadelphia to Sebastopol, the Eye has produced 73 theatre pieces, including 43 Eye-created scripts, in just about every conceivable style & circumstance.
