Hello:

Next week, my 8-year-old son, and I are moving to Santa Rosa. We are known as the 2 Rogers. Six months ago, we were a part of the 3 Rogers, but we lost the other Roger to cancer. I am a full time published fiction writer with a small traditional publisher. I am also a full time stay at home father for my 3rd grade Cub Scout. I am in search of other writers and writer's groups. My time is quite flexible. I just received the Byrd Grant to attend the Community of Writers at Squaw Valley this August.

My mystery/thriller Murder Under White was published in 2005, and did not do very well. My new work (A departure from the mystery/thriller genre) in progress is an Interpretive Memoir is entitled A Broken Smile: Fifteen Stories About A Boy. This Interpretive Memoir is not for the faint of heart.

I'd like to hear from other writers as well as poets.

Regards, ROG.

Hi Rog,

How funny, I was just thinking about how I was going to look for a writing group. I am a newly published poet and creative non-fiction writer (one poem, one creative non-fiction) and have been in several writing classes over the past 4-5 years. The most recent was with Dan Coshnear and Terry Ehret and was 20-30 minute discussion on some aspect of writing and then critique. At the time my mother was finishing her battle with cancer--she seems to be a major theme in much of my writing--I'm very happy I inherited so much of her chutzpah!

I am looking for a writing group--where we both write together and critique. Maybe someone is in charge on a rotating basis where we either write from a prompt or work with a style. If you are looking for suggestions of where to look for a group, I have some suggestions for that too--mostly in the fall.

I am not faint of heart--I am real, an educator, and don't take myself too seriously at any one given time.
