So, I downloaded Firefox & Thunderbird.......Love it.
I decided to go ahead and try Lightning (which is their calender). I download it, and attempt to install it.....it does not show up in my tools under add-ons. If I try to install it directly from the saved file it says it does not work with firefox, or windows does not know which program to use...pick one from a list (yada, yada). I also attempted to use firebird (calender not attached to email) with almost the same results.

Thanks,
Terri

Lightning is a stand-alone program, not called by or used under Firefox. I tried it and found it to be quite a nice calendar/scheduler program. When I installed it, after installation I opened Window's file handling utility, Windows Explorer - (Start>All Programs>Accessories>Explorer) and created an icon for Lightning on my desktop.

If Explorer doesn't start in a window, click the two-square icon in the upper right corner of the program. Use Explorer to look on your hard drive to find the sub-directory where you have Lightning - default is C:\Program Files\Lightning. Find the little icon for the Lightning exe file. Hold down your right mouse button, and drag the icon onto your desktop. Windows will ask you if you want to make a shortcut - click yes. From then on you will have an icon on your desktop to start Lightning whenever you want it.

ps. If you don't already have a Windows Explorer icon on your desktop, you might want to add one - it's a useful little program! It's found in C:\windows\

Enjoy!
