Hello, I am in search of a group of people who meet on a regular basis and either write during this time or share writing that they are in the process of working on--not necessarily for critique per se, but more for motivation and inspiration to continue the process. I am not looking for a costly writing workshop that only meets for a few weeks, but more of an ongoing writing "support" group where anyone is welcome to come and share what they are working on. Does this type of group exist out there?
Thanks!

UUCSR (Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Santa Rosa) has just started a writing group that expects to be just what you described. This is what our group leader said about it:

"Our UUCSR Writers Group is open to everyone--visitors as well as people outside the Congregation. You might ask interested folks to send an e-mail to me, [email protected], so that I can put them on our e-mail list and send them information about our newly formed group. Thanks."

Dates and times of future meetings
Once a month - First Monday of the month
Next Two Meetings, Monday, July 2
UUCSR, 547 Mendocino Ave.
Early Afternoon: 1:30 - 3:30 pm
Late Afternoon: 4 - 6 pm

You might also want to check out Westword on Sundays, 4 pm
at the Sebastopol Center for the Arts on Depot Street. Not sure
if it's every Sunday. Go to www.sebarts.org (https://www.sebarts.org) for complete details.

Hi:

My 8-year-old son and I are moving to Santa Rosa this coming week. I am a full time published fiction writer with a small traditional publisher. I am looking for other writers in the Santa Rosa area. I have just received the Byrd grant to attend the Community of Writers at Squaw Valley this August. Any information about writer's groups would be just what I need. I work at home, so my time is quite flexible.

I am very interested in finding a writers group.
I am the some times photographer, videographer, animal welfare, educator person who has been doing writing since I could hold a crayon.
I am intersted in having honest and uncensored feedback on peices in progress as well as sharing resources. For years I have wanted to self publish but this looking for work stuff just takes all my time!

I just finished a class and am looking for some people who want to support each other locally.

I am open to the west county and north of santa rosa, but would like to see where people are and would like to meet.

Hi Lisa,
I'd be interested in starting up a Writer's Group with you! I teach writing online (college--creative writing, English Comp., rhetoric, etc.), but haven't had the time to continue working on my own pieces. I'm in north Santa Rosa, so we could meet here or take turns, depending on who joins the group.

Dear Cub Scout Dad,

There's tons of writers support in Sonoma County. Over the last five years, I've found several excellent writers' support groups through Center for Spiritual Living in Santa Rosa (546-4543). I am in a small group now that we restarted last fall but I believe we're full at the moment.

Since you're new here, please save Saturday, September 15 for the 8th annual Sonoma County Book Festival. You'll find readings by local authors, local book shop stalls, Literary Arts Guild, bay area small press publishers, kids books and arts activities and more. www.socobookfest.org and information line (527-5412).

While you're there check out the 10 am reading for The Sitting Room which is celebrating their fifth year of publishing a collection of essay focused pieces. One or two writers' groups meet at The Sitting Room A Community Library in Cotati (8 miles south of SR). Email J.J. Wilson - [email protected] for writers' groups, events and publications.

Welcome to Sonoma County!
