The Carousel Network's October meeting will be held this Saturday, October 1, in the Conference Room at Palm Drive Hospital. The meeting will start at 2:00 p.m., and run until approximately 4 p.m.

This will be a special meeting, hosted by DR. TIMOTHY J. SMITH, MD, where you will be able to "ASK THE DOCTOR" questions on any topic you can think of related to health or your illness. Come prepared with your questions, writing them down ahead of time if possible so that we can get as many questions in as time allows. Initially, each person will be alllowed to ask one question, until everyone who wants to ask a question has done so, or our time is up. After that, we will then open the floor to allow additional questions. And please remember that Dr. Smith will not be offering medical advice for your specific situation at this meeting. You should seek the advice of your own treating physician before changing any of your treatment protocols.

Dr. Smith is one of the area’s leading physicians treating complex illnesses. He has been studying and practicing alternative, nutritional and conventional healing principals for over 30 years. His distinguished and extensive background includes traditional western medical school, and recognition as a leader in bringing traditional Chinese medicine to this country, resulting in his being one of the first American physicians to be invited to the People’s Republic of China. He has established a general family practice in Berkeley, where he integrates conventional medical practices with alternative modalities, using telephone consultation for his international client base. Please remember that our meetings are fragrance-free, as some of our members are chemically sensitive. Attendees are asked not to wear any scented personal products or freshly dry-cleaned clothing. Some home laundry products (esp. Tide, Bounce) also leave a scent which can be harmful to some members. Also, please remember that cigarette smoke lingers on clothing and hair. Please do not come into the meeting if you have just smoked or are wearing clothing with the odor of cigarette smoke. If you are chemically sensitive and you notice someone with a scent that is causing you harm, you are encouraged to either move to another part of the room, or, if this is not possible, ask the other person to move. If someone mentions that you are wearing a scent that is harming them, please do not take it personally or become offended. Even chemically sensitive people occasionally, and usually inadvertently, wear something that is scented that doesn't bother them, but does bother other people!

New Chronic Fatigue Clinical Trial ~ Open enrollment

San Francisco Bay Area

Immune System and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) Specialist, Dr. Jon Kaiser, is looking for 20 patients with significant CFS symptoms to help him continue testing a new nutrient-drug hybrid treatment that has already shown great promise in a significant number of CFS patients.

The treatment combines a low dosage of a currently available medication with a potent nutrient-antioxidant cocktail that boosts immune function to provide CFS patients with a healthy and balanced increase in their energy level. The trial will last for one month. The office visits and the nutritional supplement are provided free of charge. There will also be an opportunity to continue this treatment beyond one month, with your own Dr., if you wish to continue. The patient must be present for the initial enrollment appointment; other appointments can be done by phone. Dr. Kaiser’s office is located 30 minutes north of San Francisco in Mill Valley.

Conditions which may exclude a person from this trial are: significant fibromyalgia, a history of heart disease, uncontrolled high blood pressure, major depression, or ulcer disease.

For more information or to enroll in the trial, please email Anne Lahaderne at [email protected] or call her at (415) 381-7655. Thank you for your consideration.
