Thanks Dian and Steve for your posts. I have to say that initially I was for this bill. However, the more I read the more I am inclined to say "nay." Statistics seem to show that mandatory spay/neuter fails and MORE animals are therefore killed. Shetlers are already overflowing. This bill might cause more dogs (and cats) to be killed instead of less. Out of state puppy mills are gearing up for more business in CA as they anticipate a void in CA puppies. At least this is what I am lead to believe.
I am trying to read every pro/con side of this issue as I obviously want the best for the animals. And it does seem to rile the purebred owners more than the mixed breed owners. Does anyone have information regarding how many animal shelters are against this bill?
