You want to preserve the cream of the breed for the gene pool? Then put some semen and ova into cryonic suspension, to be used when millions of homeless dogs and cats aren't being killed--humanely or otherwise--every year. You have homes for the litter? Every home you use is one more home that won't be taking in a shelter animal. You want to buy one? Please check the shelter each week, instead; every breed you've every heard of comes through the shelter. Before anyone intentionally causes any more kittens or puppies to be born, please do just one thing: Volunteer with your local animal shelter for two weeks to go in before work each morning and hold the animals to be euthanized.

You want to preserve the cream of the breed for the gene pool? Then put some semen and ova into cryonic suspension, to be used when millions of homeless dogs and cats aren't being killed--humanely or otherwise--every year. You have homes for the litter? Every home you use is one more home that won't be taking in a shelter animal. You want to buy one? Sorry about that....but maybe instead of taking any of these comments personally, which they're NOT, please hear the ideas and feelings expressed.
I should have said....I feel so sad when I see people breeding and selling animals when so many beautiful animals are euthanized and unwanted.It makes me really really sad.

OK, i will take this to Waccotalk, but someone's making a business
in a way that increases the amount of suffering on this bruised and battered planet cuts no ice with me. I pull the phone-number tags off of fliers
advertising sapient beings for sale. Sorry, Windy, i didn't realize you were
new to this list, and i do realize small-scale breeders do the work because
they LOVE the animals.
Maybe, in the future, such commentary could be opened as a new thread for discussion in the Waccotalk section, rather than sending negative vibes to someone who is trying to make a business.
Overall, this post would probably be more appropriate in the "Animal World" category in the Marketplace.
