I had dinner last week at Bistro Vu, my first time, since its Chez Peyo reincarnation. My friend and I split a spinach/walnut/pear salad, then we both had the swordfish special. It was a thick baked loin of swordfish, much juicier & more succulent than the normal swordfish steaks that tend to be dry and chewy. It had a killer sauce on top - like a citrus/tomatoe. I suggested my date & I split a 6 oz glass of Alexander Pinot ($10), which was delightful as well, particularly since I drank mine as well as half of hers.

Feeling no pain, I asked the waitress what was in the sauce on top of the fish. She stopped, then asked if I'd like her to ask the chef to come out. I said "well of course, why not", as well as thinking "How unusual, no chef has ever come to my table before".

So he came out, he's the owner as well, told me how he goes to extra lengths to get this special swordfish (from California or Hawaii), and ran through the ingredients of the sauce, the main one being sundried tomatoes somehow smushed into some deep ripe tomatoey goo with some lemon stuff put in it.

Finally the bill came, and they charged me for two $10 glasses of wine. I explained that I'd asked for one 6 oz glass to be split between the two of us. They quickly removed $10 from the bill without hesitation. I floated home, delightfully surprised what a great meal it was. Check it out!
