Re-Appeal to the Wacco Community:
Although two very kind people responded to this appeal a week ago, there weren’t anymore. And having been a Wacco member for years, I know it’s easy to miss things if you’ve been away or just deleted too much build up of Digests! (I have, and then I found out I missed something really important.) So with that in heart and mind, I am resubmitting my Appeal for help. Thank you, and sorry if you’ve read this a second time!
Dear Wacco friends,
After working as an RN for several years, I became very ill, and consequently have been disabled with Lyme disease for over 13 years. (I was misdiagnosed for most of those years). Four months ago, I began intensive treatments, and because a lot are IV, they put in a Central Venous Catheter. The last 4 months have been rigorous, challenging, and there have been complications that have been extremely stressful and exhausting. All to say, when the catheter recently became malpositioned and needed to be removed, I realized this was an opportunity to take some time off to rejuvenate my body, mind, and spirit.
I found out about a Wellness center in San Diego where I can go for two weeks for some much needed spiritual renewal, detoxification and cleansing (via raw food, juicing, and other natural therapies). And they offer scholarships for people such as myself, however it only covers half of the fee. The cost for me is $800 plus travel expenses (airfare, etc) which I cannot afford.
I have been on disability and constantly struggling to make basic ends meet. I don’t want to “survive” and be ill anymore! I want to regain my health – my life, and be a functional human being who can work, serve, love, play, and do all the things I have been missing out on by being mostly homebound and isolated.
I really need to take this “window of opportunity” before the catheter is reinserted (in Feb) and the IV protocol resumes. A friend suggested that I appeal to my community, and although this is very scary to reach out and ask for help, this healing journey cannot happen without it. So if anyone is able to contribute (any amt., large or small) please contact me privately via e-mail. It would be so appreciated and make a huge difference in my life and healing.
Thank you and Blessings,
Rhonda
