Hi. I am in the midst of starting a business and need start up funds. Everything is going well and is manifesting easily. I am getting lots of positive feedback and have a great market. Now I need money to pay for certain aspects such as liability insurance, business dues, rental fees for my office, and business supplies, etc. If you know of anything public or private I would love to know. Thank you so much. Blessings, Katherine 707 321-6488

In order to be eligible for startup funds you need to have a business plan. To find out how to do one go to the Small Business Administration website (SBA). They should also have helpful links to money available for women, however, women per se, are not a disadvantaged minority. Unless you are also a minority or otherwise disadvantaged you can't expect much, but you can take advantage of all the free education, out there. Unless you are prepared to put your own money at risk, few people will invest. And they'll want a business plan. Consider how passionate you are about being an entrepreneur and be prepared to get a second mortgage, downsize your lifestyle, etc. Please consider saving some money to cover the first few months of your rent and other operating funds since these would be expected to be your responsibility. Good luck!

That's so right. For help with a business plan, contact Cynthia Riggs, [email protected]

She runs regular workshops and groups "Women Building Business", "One Page Business Plan", "Biz Divas". She has had a number of very successful businesses and now shares the love to women who are starting up.
