Hello everyone,

I have just spent two stupefying hours on a beautiful Sunday trying to figure out why my Inbox e-mails simply disappeared! I have looked under AutoArchive to retrieve any emails there, but I was only able to recover "Sent Items." As far as I can tell, my Autoarchive option was turned off. Now I need my ever so important "Inbox" but can't find them anywhere in the computer.

I have typed "retrieving archived emails" into the help bar, but didn't see anything more than what I've already tried. Any ideas?

The same thing happened to me a few years ago and I never did figure out how to retrieve my old e-mails. If you are successful, please advise! Thanks!

There are various ways of searching your computer... do you remember any distinctive part of the name of one of the beloved files? Or approximate date it was created? You can do a general or more specific search of the computer from the START button, or search just within Outlook.
Good luck! Let me know if you need more help...

Hi,

Your missing files problem sounds aggravating at best. First I'd check the "Deleted" folder for the missing files, then I'd look for another archive folder.

Were you pushing the limit on the file size? Outlook 2003's *.pst files can be 2GB max, If you get too close to that the program can hang. If you're still stuck, let me know and I'll try to find a time when we can talk.

Here are 2 possibilities to find your archived items in Outlook 2003:

1) On the File Menu, click Archive..., then copy the file path from the "Archive File:" text box. Then cancel that dialog and on the File Menu, select Open.../Outlook Date file... and paste in that file path and press enter.

2) On the Go menu, click Folder List, and then click Archive Folders

Good Luck!

Thank you for your great suggestions! I have exhausted the possibilities that the missing files were archived (auto or otherwise)... tracing back, my partner was deleting files from one account and I'm deducing that she probably inadvertently selected a collapsed account (and all the e-mails in it) while holding down the shift key and deleting other individual e-mails. And of course, I always tell her that if something isn't working, try closing the program out and reboot. (Unfortunately, I have Outlook remove deleted files when closing the program, so we've lost the e-mails.)

So, fair warning to those delete happy users, autoarchive on a regular basis and more importantly, keep a regular backup of your e-mail.

Thanks again everyone!

My friend told me about his problem,as he said once all his mails were corrupted. He didn't know what to do next, but he accidentally entered in the Google and noticed there - pst 2007 repair (https://www.recoverytoolbox.com/outlook_2007_repair_pst.html). The software solved his problem for seconds and absolutely free as far as he remember. Moreover I used this tool and it helped me too. I am glad to work with it.
