I don't know what else you've already done to get this cat home, but here are things to do: get him scanned (with a universal scanner, that will read any company's chip) for a microchip, run free Found ads and PSA's with the local papers and radio stations, phone the area vets,
put up fliers, report him to the Humane Society and the County shelter, post his info on the online sites for lost and found non-human animals. Thank you for helping him get home; he and his human friend(s) will be so happy to see each other again. All of these work better
if you take his picture and, e.g., show it to the vets, etc.

P.S.: It just occurred to me--maybe another useful group of people to send
a flier with the animal's picture and your contact info to would be the "animal communicators."
