I have often wondered, being of a Hispanic Catholic background, which ethnic group guilts people the best:

Hispanic Catholics?
Irish Catholics?
Jewish?
Mainstream Christians?
Fundamentalist Christians?
Episcopalians?
Methodists?
Baptists?
Anglicans?
New Age Christians?
Quakers?
Unitarians?
Pagans?
Muslims?
Bhuddists?
Zen-Bhuddists?
Others?

We used to live in western Wisconsin, an area of the country heavily populated by the Amish. Their quilts were amazing.

I apologize for not being clear enough:
I meant to say, "G U I L T," not quilt.

I tried, unsuccessfully, to "morf" the word guilt into a verb form that doesn't exist in the English language in order to get a humorous debate going.

In that case, to quote the late great Gilda Radner, "Never mind."

LOL

I loved Gilda. I remember her from watching Sat Night Live while I was in high school. Too bad she died from cancer; she was a great lady.

Actually "to guilt" is a valid transitive verb.

I was all ready to write a grammar correction as a guilt inducing English teacher but first I looked it up in Dictionary.com and found that I was wrong.

"To Shame" is also a transitive verb.

While saying, "she guilted me" is correct, it appears awkward because it is an archaic usage.

As for what best causes us to feel guilty? Isn't it ourselves?

Unless one is a psychopath and then supposedly guilt is not an issue.

The only thing I'm feeling guilty about is blowing off the Samba Party and missing what, by all reports, was a great time!

Yes; Tha Samba Party was just Awesome! Every single person was dancing, Two hundred or so. The music was more entertaining than I could ever believe! We should have one a week!

I am also very happy you were wrong about something! LMAO!

However, it is a choice and as such I have decided that guilt is a useless emotion, despite its early installation re: Jewish mother, and subsequent members of society. Now quilting, on the other hand, was a wonderful misinterpretation, and a much more interesting topic imho. mindy
