Dear Mrs. WaCCO,

I wonder what you think of intimate relationships between people of different generations, as for example in the story of King David and Abishag the Shunamite (1 Kings 1:4).

1 When King David was old and advanced in years, though they spread covers over him he could not keep warm.

2 His servants therefore said to him, "Let a young virgin be sought to attend you, lord king, and to nurse you. If she sleeps with your royal majesty, you will be kept warm."

3 So they sought for a beautiful girl throughout the territory of Israel, and found Abishag the Shunamite, whom they brought to the king.

4 The maiden, who was very beautiful, nursed the king and cared for him, but the king did not have relations with her.

Is there a young girl in your world that you want to have keep you warm? you're not sure if you want to sleep with someone of a different generation than you? what's your real question?

Mrs. Wacco,

I would consider what David and Abishag were doing intimate, even if you think it was not within an intimate relation. Adonijah, the fourth son of David, later wanted to merry Abishag, so she must have been rather close to the royal family.

I am obfuscating I know, but it is out of necessity. I am just fishing here, in the hope that someone has something of interest to say about intimate relations between people of different generations.

I think it would feel better if you would reveal more of yourself and ask a very specific personal question, that allows someone to give you an answer. What is your question?

Bobbie,

You're probably right, but feeling better is just one of the things that guide us in making choices.

When I am old and not able to keep warm in my bed, god I hope someone suggests that for me. They don’t even have to search my kingdom, I’ll be happy with any…

Hi, Zeno. Different generations, species, planets, millennia, fins/no fins, air breathing/not air breathing/ visible/invisible, natural/supernatural, human, divine - they're all OK.
