If you are missing an older puppy, it attacked my 6 year old today and bit my mother. There were three of us trying to get this dog off my daughter and still had to use a broom, after it knocked my daughter to the ground several times. My mother put herself between the dog and my daughter and ended up getting bit. The dog tried to bite my daughters throat. She is traumatized and my mother is in pain. Please keep your dogs under control and prevent another child from getting hurt. I have never been so scared in my life!! My daughters should be able to feel safe at Grandma's house. And the Animal Control Officer said that this dog was part pit bull!!

So I have received an email saying they don't believe my daughter was attacked by a dog. Why would I post something that is not true? I just want others to be aware of these things and for the owner to take responsability for the actions of THEIR dog. I don't even know who the owner is, it was a stray dog. My daughter and mother were injured, not to mention the emotional trauma my daughter suffered. I am sorry if you don't believe me, but we can't close our eyes and turn the other way because someone thinks it's a lie!!!

I'm sorry you got that posting from someone; i can't imagine what part of the account they would have trouble believing. If there's anyone
out there who thinks a dog can't be made that mean that young, let me assure you, a couple of years ago a systematically-abused year-old pit bull killed an 18-month-old baby. He was on a thick chain but got so frantic he literally broke the chain, and despite the mother's best efforts, she was unable to save the child. She tried so hard and so persistently to pull the infant away from him that she's had to have
seven surgeries on her hands and arms, and she still doesn't have full function. Robbin, i'm an NLP practitioner; if you get in touch with
me, i can tell you how to take the charge off the experience for your daughter.
Important note: It is not pit bulls' nature that causes them to be involved in most stories of this kind. Their natural temperament is exactly
the opposite; they're one of the most affectionate breeds. (It's chows and Akitas who've been bred for aggression and may kill their human friends of many years.) Pit bulls have a masseter joint that causes the jaw to lock, and this attracts scuzzy men to abuse them deliberately to turn them mean.

While I might not go as far as another respondent and find the description unbelievable, I do find some gaps in this story. If you daughter was attacked the animal control officer would have confiscated the dog and if it had run off, done an immediate and intensive search. But, you don't provide these essential followup details in your bulletin.
It's also very confusing that you mention this was a puppy! How could a puppy have the stength and teeth to hurt your daughter? Also, the "part pit bull" piece is confusing, as well. How do you know this dog was "part pit bull"? Dogs are dogs, people make them agressive. Predjudice against breeds is right up there with racism. Anyway, I am looking forward to your more detailed posting describing the Animal Control Officer's followup and resolution for what must have been an awful incident for your family.
Sincerely,
Gypsey
