Hi Everyone,
I help care take my boyfriend’s 97 year old mother who lives with dementia. The ideal Caregiver will have a good sense of humor and not take things personally. Shirley needs help with toileting, walking, meals, and mental stimulation through conversation. She is still able to hold her own in conversation, and having been a therapist and a mother of four, she has a lot of wisdom and insight to offer. It’s the three of us here in the house. She has a short temper and agitation that goes with dementia as well. We really do need help with light housekeeping as having somebody was so much need in the house requires a lot of our time and energy. We will all work as a team. It’s very important that you would have a low pitched voice and capacity to speak slowly as she is mildly hard of hearing, but also suffers some of the hearing related issues that goes with dementia around high-pitched noises. She truly cannot understand people with heavy accents, unfortunately.
You would have your own living quarters and room and board. Mostly overnight shifts, other hours are negotiable. Salary beyond room and board is negotiable.
Thank you,
Mindy
