Swami Asks:
“Do We Go for ABunDance or Stay Stuck in ScareCity?”
By Swami Beyondananda
*** A great Yogi -- I think it was Yogi Berra -- once said, “When you come to a fork in the road, take it.”* Well, here we are at the junction of love and fear, and if we stay on the all-too-familiar path of ScareCity* -- we’re totally forked.* Yes, in a shrinking world that could definitely use a good shrink, we can do the same old same old and get the same old results, or ... we can try something different for a change.* Instead of ScareCity, we can go for ABunDance.* That is when we get up off of our assets, move our buns, and dance together in rhythm and flow.* Can it work?* Well, consider what hasn’t worked.

“Joy of Failure” Has Immediate Success!
Dear Friends:
*** Shortly before we left for our tour in Colorado and Santa Fe, we launched our “Joy of Failure” website and sent out a fund raising letter.* Surprisingly, we received our first large check before the letter even went out.* Talk about timing!* Build it, and they will come -- before it’s even built.* Not only did we receive several other generous donations, but we were inundated with positive feedback and encouragement.
*** Since the outset, this project has taken us by surprise.* The idea floated into my head one day (Swami would call it “struck by enlightening during a brainstorm”), and as soon as Lynn Lawrence and I began working together, the synchronicities have come faster and furiouser.* The latest “download” came just a few days ago.* The mission of this book (and workshop) is to “Re-Inspire the Disspirited.”* Those who have experienced loss, failure and discouragement have tremendous resources, really:* humility, compassion, experience, and very often the desire to use what they’ve learned to help others.
*** One of the key distinctions we’ve gotten is that what we call “failure” is often a wake up call for authenticity, that a goal or dream we’ve been working toward is somebody else’s goal or dream, not ours.* We’ve heard numerous stories from people whose “failure” revealed they had been embarking up the wrong tree, and the loss was a passage to something that was more beneficial to others, and more gratifying to themselves.
*** Right now, we are looking to interview coaches and counselors in the areas of relationship, parenting, business and finance, health and wellness, spiritual practice, as well as “dream coaches” and those who have worked with others to transform and reframe failure and loss.* This will, as the Swami would say, “feed two birds with one scone.”* It will enrichen and enliven our book and seminar with the insights of others who understand the metaphysics of change, and at the same time provide our readers with a network of experts and practitioners they can consult for deeper work.
*** We’re also looking for highly-successful people with a loss or failure in their history (just about every highly-successful individual, we have found) to share their story.* We’re not looking to make this a “celebrity” book, but we are looking for compelling and inspiring stories.* And, of course, we are looking for successful failure stories from anyone who cares to share one.
*** I feel hugely blessed to see how all my work -- from the cosmic comedy and healing laughter from Wake Up Laughing and the Swami to the “it’s bigger than politics” political perspective from Notes From the Trail to the Joy of Failure -- is really about one thing:* bringing healing, encouragement, functionality and joy to the world at large and the “world at small.”* Because all the conversations -- what we call spiritual or political or economic or ecologic or psychological -- are about the same thing.* Do we dance together in ABunDance or huddle separately in ScareCity?
*** Thank you for your support and encouragement in all its forms!* To find out more about the Joy of Failure or make a donation, please click here.

*** If you’re interested in how you can impact issues locally and worldwide, and you’re looking for both truth and encouragement, sign up for our regular newsletter.* We generally come out every two weeks, but we’ve been on the once-a-month schedule during a very busy summer.* Next issue is out before the end of this month, and it should be very interesting.* We will have a wrap-up of the Spiritual Activist Conference in Berkeley last month, and the encouraging news about a real “moral majority” awakening in this country and in the world.
*** The newsletter is free to anyone who subscribes, although we do accept donations.* Click below and scroll down to donate
