All this year, the "evidence" about Vitamin D has swung from one extreme to the other and back again. This is the first REAL scientific study to look at Vitamin D as it pertains to COVID. The evidence is positive.

As a physician, I have to say I think the traditional medical world has been very slow to realize what it means that most of us have dramatically (if not dangerously) low Vitamin D levels. Some practitioners do understand, but still give only very low doses as treatment. We were taught in school that the fat-soluble vitamins (A,D, E & K) are very dangerous if overdosed. This is definitely true of Vitamin A. It is NOT true with Vitamin D. [As an example, an acceptable treatment for Seasonal Mood Disorder is 100,000 Units of Vitamin D once every 3 months - given either as two 50,000 Unit doses or as one 100,000 Unit dose. These doses are well tolerated. In prescription form, it comes as 50,000 Units pills, but some researchers say that this pill is the wrong kind of Vitamin D.] Over the counter, you can get it in 5,000 Unit pills. A dose of 20,000 Units per week is not unusual if you are trying simply to raise your Vitamin D level to a blood level of 60 or 70, or so.

Overall, death rates remain much lower, though they are increasing in Spain, France, and elsewhere. Death rates in the US are NOT falling...still ~800 deaths/day.

As this happens, 80% of people (all age groups) now have initial symptoms of severe headaches, tiredness and heavy fatigue in the first week. Runny nose, congestion, and sneezing are NOT thought to be symptoms of COVID-19.

Listen everyone...the CDC Director is right about wearing masks! We have clear scientific evidence they work, and they are our best defense. Don't count on a vaccine anytime soon...and don't count on the vaccine actually working.
