I am a volunteer for dog rescue (several local groups in our area). Someone contacted me requesting a Border Collie puppy. Are there any out there at this time of the year? I have forwarded several young (4 month old) dogs but this family wants a puppy.

.If they have to have a puppy under 4 months and they have to have one now, please refer these people to the Border Collie Society (BSCA) for info on how to screen and find a reputable breeder, and to learn what will be required of them, in addition to price, in order to qualify for ownership of these active working dogs. (Another option is to contact Border Collie Rescue and see if they can recommend a breeder who supports their program, as many do.)
All that being said, this puppy will be a member of their family and if it has to be 8-10 weeks, vs 4 months, I personally am a little concerned. And why does it have to be now?

After I replied below, Barbara the original poster, reached out to me. She gave me some background on the people in search of adopting a puppy and also clarified that they are not looking necessarily for a purebred, but a puppy who is at least part border collie. Among the details she shared is that they are a qualified adoptive home. Thanks Barbara for clarifying and if I got anything wrong that you shared, please add to this post. Thanks.

May have a lead for you. This came across my FB feed...you'll have to track down the Ziggy's Legacy Rescue FB link and see if it's still available...

I think Ziggy's Legacy is located in FL and the dog is wanted here in Santa Rosa. But I was glad to see another rescue group in the state of FL. The more rescues but better!
