The recent Hopkins study enumerating the Iraqi death toll has astounded and awakened me into action. Code Pink came up with a brilliant peace campaign called "Walk in their shoes" which I think we should participate in here in Sonoma County. By collecting hundreds of name-tagged shoes of all sizes representing the thousands of US soldiers and hundreds of thousands of Iraqi civilians killed in the war, we could create a powerful visual representation of the deaths caused by the Iraq war and call for citizens to vote for peace in the upcoming election.

First, is anyone else interested in doing this? If so, where and when?

If you're going to put time into something for peace right now, please--don't collect shoes. Volunteer to phonebank or precinct walk for Democrats challenging Republican incumbents. Collecting shoes can happen after the election.
People like Charlie Brown, who is very likely to topple the corrupt archconservative John Doolittle, and Jerry McNerney, who is poised to evict the radical anti-environmentalist Richard Pombo from his seat, need help. Contact their campaigns:

After all, isn't it somehow right that Sonoma County stand up for Charlie Brown?
