There are two reasons your landline might be dead: 1) a problem with your phone unit or 2) a problem with your server.
If it is comcast, google the following: my comcast landline isn't working. or something like that. This will pull up a troubleshooting menu to discover if it's your unit, or if not, how to deal with comcast and get it repaired ASAP>
