Mayor Pete has exited the race. (tom steyer also).

While I doubt this will have much impact on "Super Tuesday" as many have already returned ballots in many states voting, it will have some effect- and certainly an increasingly large effect as the primaries continue.

I'll certainly be interested to see if he gets a VP offer

Pete's announcement certainly came suddenly. Did he receive an offer that he couldn't refuse? Will he take a knee to Joe? Pete has dinged Bernie a number of times. Can a Biden/Buttigieg ticket stop Bernie?

Pete's announcement certainly came suddenly...
I don't think it came suddenly. Pete did VERY well in Iowa and NH. decent in NV. But I think SC was seen as a test of how well an openly gay man could do in many of the coming primaries.

And... I think Pete is a good person...and one not so vain to chase a presidency he can't win until the very end. I think on top of everything else he saw continuing his bid would be harmful to the democratic bid. And by that I mean... creating a Sanders/Trump election...

And now Klobuchar has stepped down as well...

I'd urge people to look at the race so far...and think about it. Especially since there are good odds we will go to a contested/brokered Democratic convention.

In every state so far other then arguably Nevada - the moderate wing of the D party has kicked Sanders ass. Nevada was more or less a draw.

Unless things change substantially, we are going to go into a convention where Sanders leads in delegates and popular vote (in no small part because Pete, Amy, and Steyer dropped out too late to effect the votes on Super Tuesday.... and yet- Sanders will trail greatly compared to the moderate Dem vote.

So yeah... as I predicted and posted months ago... the Dems will tear themselves apart. And Trump will win again....

I saw a news report that Pete was in the process of jetting north when the word came to go to texas. This was after Obama talked to him. What a good soldier.

Link?

It was just a short blurb on one of the news channels. Feel free to disregard, but I saw what I saw. And of course we all saw Amy and Pete take the knee.

Ah yes... Well, seeing as Obama has both publicly and privately stayed out of the election, and seems to plan to until after the convention...well, I'll call BS...

And, ahem... "take the knee" ...yeah. More like neither like Sanders, and neither do those who voted for them. They may not particularly care for Biden either but would much rather see him as President than Sanders. And of course... as a contested/brokered convention is looking like a real possibility for the first time in decades... by endorsing Biden they have arguably freed their electors to put their votes to Biden in the 2nd round.

And, to continue with the original point of this thread, Bloomberg has likewise dropped out and endorsed Biden.

Well... we all know Obama didn't want Biden to run. "You don't have to do this Joe." But sure, Obama is not making any "Public" statements. That doesn't mean he isn't making a few phone calls. He is the Grand Marshal of the party.

Not even open to the possibility? Come on now, the obvious is always possible.

I feel that Trump can and will chew Biden up and spit him out fr breakfast in debates, something he would not be able to do with Bernie. The Dems will err by selecting another business-as-usual candidate.

Biden is clearly a weak candidate. His gaffe's have gone from cute to pathetic. He is clearly declining mentally before our eyes. But he has a big plus over Bernie for the Dem elite. He is more and more clueless and malleable. Bernie (the not Democrat) won't compromise and Joe has proved that he will.
