Has anybody noticed that we citizens are being turned into peons. We cannot afford to live in the hovels that pass for apartments and when we stumble we are forced to live in the streets under overpasses in conditions that are every bit as harsh as the peons and serfs and peasants of the middle ages lived in. Our medical benefits are being reduced as are our old age benefits, benefits we worked for. We stagger about the streets, out pants soiled, carrying out belongings on our backs or pushing them in shopping carts. Peons, that's what we are becoming. And when we complain the palace guards pour boiling oil down on us from the ramparts in the form of indefinite detention. How you like your peonage America? A vote for Trump or for any Republican is a vote for peonage.

You wouldn't be a peon in Mississippi http://worldpopulationreview.com/states/cost-of-living-index-by-state/

What idiocy! Mississippi proves my point! The state is 50th in health care and 46th in education. 48th in economy. 45th in infrastructure. Mississippi is a state of peons. Your comment is a perfect example of a false equivalency. Mississippi and California are both states, but they are vastly different in health care, education, economy, and infrastructure.

We humans could have realized that capitalism and the greed-driven economy were the drivers for destruction of our environment. We could have. The information was available in 1970. We did nothing. So the global economy is self-destructing. Because we did not prepare, the collapse will be devastating. We have no one to blame but ourselves. Our species should be called Homo imprudens: the species that had the information to save themselves and chose not to. Peonage is essential to capitalism. Self-destruction is the unavoidable outcome of capitalism. Star Man

Too true, Star Man. We humans are ever the authors of our own undoing, individually and collectively.
