I would consider myself a pretty balanced individual and without abnormal fears, however in the past several years, I've become more fearful of food, not just processed food, but even fresh food. And, fearful of lies by manufacturers of both human and pet food. I can't keep up with all the revelations of human slavery in America. Driscoll berries employees people to work in the fields for long hours and very low pay:

https://www.cbc.ca/news/business/nestle-seafood-thailand-1.3331127 I'd never feed Fancy Feast, knowing it's a product of slave labor of adults and small children. I'd never buy a Nestle's product!

I'm afraid in ways I've never been about eating, and feeding pets. This may not be Schizophrenia, but it's not mentally healthy to be afraid to shop for food. What has caused this? It's not delusions, hallucinations, or a malady from within. Does anyone resonate with this fear? What would you call it?

Let's come up with a reasonable label. Anyone? Help!!

Just looked up "fear of food". One label is called Cibophobia. I'm not obsessive, but I avoid pot lucks and eating out, because the preparation is out of my control, and things happen in the kitchens of well meaning people and restaurants. I've had food poisoning from eating food at a Sonoma County fair, and also from a pot luck. I've become distrusting not only of prepared food at events, but also buying food in markets. There are many reports that most of us never see. I subscribe to sites that report on food recalls, both human and pet. Unfortunately I'm unable to grow my own food, and sometimes must get it from Food Banks.
