Save April 18th for a great chance to see and hear Grammy winner Carlos Mejia Godoy, brother Luis Enrique MG and Holly Near. The concert will be at the Sebastopol Comm. Cultural Center 390 Morris St. Doors open 6:30, concert 7:30. Nicaraguan food available.

The concert is to support the people of Nicaragua who are suffering because of the political crisis. People are getting incarcerated for 30 years for waving the Nicaraguan flag. The proceeds will go to various groups in Nicaragua or are helping the over 50,000 who have had to leave the country.

Go to NicAmigos.org for information or to buy tickets. Contact Jim at 707-529-0228 if you have questions.

Gracias

Could someone please let us know more about Nicamigos and how they expect to use the money raised by this benefit. The statement is extremely generic and leaves me concerned about who will benefit.

Thanks.

Jim Wilder replied to me privately, saying Los Pipotos (Los Pipitos?) and Capacitar will receive funds. Jim, are their websites lospipitos.org and capacitar.org? The first appears to be for families with children with disabilities, and the latter says, "Capacitar’s mission is to heal ourselves and heal our world." Given the recent problems in Nicaragua, I wanted to know what type of group would receive the funds.

Thank you,
Cascade
