With a widish black marker, print on it something similar to below.

Hi, this camera/phone belongs to John Adams on Cathedral st. Anytown, State 12345
My phone # is (666) 123-4567
Please return it ~ or at least the data card.
Good karma to you
THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Set your camera/phone to close-up or macro and take a picture of the sign.
NEVER DELETE THE PICTURE! On my camera/phone it ended up being picture #1

If someone calls and asks you to meet them so they can return your camera/phone-ALWAYS HAVE SOMEONE STAY AT YOUR RESIDENCE while you meet them or you could come home to a burglarized house. Very old scam!
ps: save the sign for your next lost camera. ;-)</section></section>
