Hi,

I wanted to let people know that there are still cats being seen and trapped in the fire areas. I know a lot of folks may have given up on lost cats, or have been so busy since losing their homes. If you are one of those folks, and you have lost cats, know that there are still many out there. There are still folks trapping and taking pictures and feeding cats in several area. There are cats who are showing up at their burnt homes.

If you want to be possibly reunited, please add your info to the Lost/Found database at Lost/Found Animals NorCal Fires (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdmgAPZgpIYehZ_Jld02hl2HgB7Ljx5EkUge3APfPK7AYFE1Q/viewform), if you haven't already done so. Even if you are not able to take care of the cats if found, at least we can find out who they belong to, and find other options.

The database is managed between the Humane Society and Sonoma County Animal Services. Cats are being trapped thru Forgotten Felines. Don't give up hope. Your cat may still be out there. They are very resourceful.

Nice story of a reunification.

He is Shannon Jay, a San Francisco park ranger who spends his free time working long, unpaid hours using trap-door cages, motion-detection cameras, heat sensors and such to pursue runaway and feral cats. He told Boyd and Dani that at 2 a.m. last Friday he caught on Split Rail Court — just up Skyfarm Drive from their burned home — a thin but barely injured cat identified by its microchip as their Thomas.

I also want to say that there may be cats traveling. A friend mentioned to me that there were more cats showing up in the creek near his home. So if you are seeing new animals in maybe some of the feral colonies or along the creeks, they might be survivors. You can contact Jennifer Petruska at [email protected]. She is the one who is point for trapping.

You can also go to the group entitled "Sonoma and Napa Fires Pet Rescue and Reunification" on Facebook.

This group is maintained by a large group of volunteer data managers, feeders, and trappers. Here you'll find photo albums of found, sighted, reunited, and lost pets.

Actually, that group is experiencing technical difficulties ... This is the replacement group.

With the onset of clean up, demolition, and coyotes returning ( in the more rural locations like Bennett Valley ) more trappers are needed. Please join the above group and post if you can help.
