"It's Time to Give Up Circumcision
Judaism can survive in the post-ethnic world only if its rabbis give up the ceremony of cutting off babies' foreskins of their own initiative

...but what believers want their religion to be distinguished by child abuse? Circumcision may have made sense in a time and place where a person was lucky to get enough water to drink, let alone for bathing, but I doubt more than a few thousand people on Earth have that problem any more.

I remember my circumcision 73 years ago as a baby. It was the worst physical trauma that my body recalls, even though I have been stabbed by a knife, beaten up in fights, knocked down in football, etc. Wounding our infant boys into manhood is not a good idea, in my opinion. In recent years there has been more awareness that infants do in fact feel when part of their body has been forever removed. What a barbaric practice. Yes, it is "child abuse," as the post below describes it.
