I've written them to explain how the weight of the parked cars & trucks compacts the soil and will eventually kill the tree. Maybe they would listen to customers.

probably they want to park in the shade of the lovely oak tree so the vehicles do not get so toasted.

If so, encourage them to build a shade shelter to park vehicles under... and put solar panels on top of it so they can lower their electrical bill! Providing an alternative that solves the problem usually works as an incentive.
