The Republican party is the party of hate. The Republican controlled House has just passed the American Hate Care Act. It has hate written all over it. Hate for women, hate for gays, hate for veterans, hate for children, hate for sick people, hate for people with pre-existing conditions, hate, hate, hate.

There is one group...well two...the Party of Hate does love. The Republican Party of Hate loves the wealthy and has therefore given them a $600 billion dollar gift in the form of lower taxes. God that would pay for a lot of health care, wouldn't it? The Party of Hate also loves itself, because the Republicans in Congress just granted themselves an exemption from the repeal of Obama Care. What's good for the gander is apparently not good for the goslings or the female geese.

One group the Party of Hate really hates is the mentally ill and drug addicts. Now I have some expertise on this subject because I am a psychotherapist, a licensed MFT. I treat all forms of mental illness including drug addiction. I treat the children of the people who voted for Trump, the ones who were sexually abused. The ones who turned to drugs and alcohol to medicate the horrible, soul-consuming shame and disgust they feel because of how they were maltreated. I treat the depression and anxiety the soul-murdered experience on a daily basis. I provide them with skills and tools they never received in childhood because their parents were emotionally immature or addicted or divorced or mean and nasty and violent.

Well, the Republican Make America Safe for Hate Again program in the House of Representatives has just passed a repeal of Obama Care. Along with all the support for people with pre-existing conditions, for women seeking birth control and abortions, for the old (Medicare is gutted), for the poor (Medicaid--Medical here in our state) the Republican Hate Care Act removes support for addiction treatment and for psychotherapy services. If the Senate caves on this and it becomes the law of the land my clients will be unsupported. Without support they are at risk for returning to alcohol, drugs, pornography, depression, anxiety and perhaps even completing suicide.

People, November 6, 2018 will be a watershed moment in America. If you're sick and tired of being sick and tired, then vote out the Republican Party of Hate. In the meantime, call our senators, call any senator you want to, tell them We The People expect them to vote against the Republican Hate Care Act.

A fabulous, right-on rant, Star Man!

We can ask ourselves why does the Party of Hate hate the mentally ill so much? As a psychotherapist I offer this explanation: Republicans hate the mentally ill because Republicans are mentally ill. The Party of Hate also hates addiction so much because Republicans are addicted. They are addicted to money, to power, and many appear to be addicted to alcohol. Members of The Party of Hate were raised by emotionally immature parents. Thus, the Republicans are emotionally immature. They lack the emotion of compassion. It was never developed in them, because it was never modeled for them by their parents. Emotional immaturity is a basic difference between progressives and conservatives. Progressives have compassion; conservatives do not. BTW, democrats are not progressives. Some democrats possess compassion, like Bernie Sanders. He is really more progressive than democrat. Hillary is a democrat, who is addicted to power for herself. She uses political issues to enhance power for herself.

As Trump might have said, "So much hating. We're going to have so much hating. You won't believe how much hating we'll have."

Well said again, Star Man. I am only uncomfortable about your use of the term "emotional immaturity," because children are naturally very loving and compassionate unless they have been abused by uncompassionate parents. I would prefer the term "uncompassionate," or "emotionally abusive."

I would also be careful about assuming all republicans are uncompassionate. I know a very kind and intelligent man that used to consider himself a republican because he believes in "fiscal conservatism." But he feels alienated from what the party has morphed into.

But I certainly agree that in general the democrats are more motivated by kindness than the republicans, the current crop of whom seem like a colony of sharks!

I use the words "emotional immaturity" because they come from a book entitled "Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents." As a psychotherapist I am well aware that children are born motivated by the emotion of attachment (later in life it develops into the basis for love). Infants begin forming maps of the world and how it works. If their parents are emotionally immature, the infant's natural emotion-experiencing capabilities will not develop or will not develop fully. The infant will become like the parents and will not necessarily become loving and compassionate. The stories my clients tell me about bullying confirm my comments.

Also, research has confirmed that compassion is a major difference between Republicans and Democrats. I do not assume that "all" Republicans lack compassion. But Mr. Hoff, read the news! The Republican party expresses a profound lack of compassion. Latest example: The Republicans just destroyed a program to provide healthy food to school children. And then there's attacks on Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, old people, mentally ill people. If there are Republicans with compassion they are certainly hiding so well that I think my generalization is justified.
