dear Waccos - Let our reps know you want NET NEUTRALITY, now and always. Easy calls here. best, jude
This is Nathan again from the Access Now office in Washington D.C. Congress is in recess and it’s a little quieter this week. But that doesn’t mean nothing is happening. In fact, this week is crucial for the future of Net Neutrality in the United States, because Members of Congress are home listening to you — their constituents!
Net Neutrality is the fundamental principle that internet service providers (ISPs) must treat all content equally. It means that ISPs don’t get to pick winners and losers based on who can pay. We — the users — get to decide where we go and what we see on the internet. We need it to protect our freedom to access information and to communicate.
Unfortunately, the Trump Administration and its allies at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and in Congress have made it clear (https://www.e-activist.com/ea-action/broadcast.record.message.click.do?ea.url.id=900269&ea.campaigner.email=2IbVE%2FPUbYlMTRGuyrqfuvpwu1YF4SCWwsy1JUUvKjE=&ea.campaigner.id=n6uCcyLxEj2ZkArzVWMSmA==&ea_broadcast_target_id=0) that they plan to remove protections for Net Neutrality.
That’s why this week is so crucial. Members of Congress are in their districts around the country listening to you.

Remember what activist Aaron Swartz said about the internet fights of the past? He said, “We won … because everyone made themselves the hero of their own story. Everyone took it as their job to save this crucial freedom. They threw themselves into it. They did whatever they could think of to do. They didn’t stop to ask anyone for permission.”
More than four million of us supported the rules for Net Neutrality. Now we have to make sure we keep it.
Find out if your member of Congress is holding a town hall meeting here (https://www.e-activist.com/ea-action/broadcast.record.message.click.do?ea.url.id=900271&ea.campaigner.email=2IbVE%2FPUbYlMTRGuyrqfuvpwu1YF4SCWwsy1JUUvKjE=&ea.campaigner.id=n6uCcyLxEj2ZkArzVWMSmA==&ea_broadcast_target_id=0). If you don’t see one listed, call your representative to ask where they will be. If they’re not holding a town hall meeting, write a letter to the local newspaper. Dowhatever you can think of to protect Net Neutrality.
Sometimes it seems like fighting to protect our rights is a never-ending struggle. And that’s true. But it’s only a battle because no one’s giving up. Aaron Swartz was right. We shouldn’t wait for permission before speaking out. We must act now — because the internet belongs to all of us.
Neutrally yours,
Nathan
