Dear Waccos -

Several years ago at a local Cajun fest, I met Gypsy, a delightful activist sister.
I got to know her and really liked and respected her, though I also thought that the cause she'd taken up and continues to fight for - the right to be naked in public - was not as urgent as so many others.
Changing my mind as I get into my heart; feeling the sense of getting 'down' to the naked truth. Watch film.

Gyspy is THE leading (only?) proponent of this *poignant* right. In this film, her points on nudity and violence (so very normalized) are extremely apt and core to everyday reality in USA 2017 / earth 21st century.

The significance of the right to be nude, Gypsy's clarity and her indomitable spirit make this brief doc shine. Watch and support if/as you're moved. Blessings, Jude

Dear body freedom supporters,

David Davis, a fellow nudist activist, made a 20 min documentary about me and my activism. Here is the link:

Kudos to Gypsy and all other nude-positive people out there! It takes guts to address this subject in our deeply puritanical world, especially for women, who have to fear sexual aggression by men. Although, come to think of it, publicly nude men would have to fear being perceived as sexual aggressors and therefor extremely dangerous, as well as crazy.

Ever since childhood I have felt that it is deeply weird that we humans are the only animals on Earth that are so phobic about sex, sexual organs, and therefore nudity, that we absolutely have to cover our bodies--especially our "private parts"--with fabric, leather, or whatever, when we go out in public, or for many people even when they are at home. If we dare to break this taboo, everybody is horrified and assumes that we are lunatics, probably dangerous ones. And indeed, given the certain social blow-back and punishments that would ensue, we would either have to be lunatics or unimaginably courageous and determined cultural activists, prepared to receive great punishment and ostracism!

Given the overwhelming slew of crucial problems facing humanity, many may perceive this as merely a fringe issue. Warfare, environmental destruction, and feeding the hungry are certainly more urgent problems. But I believe, along with Wilhelm Reich, that our deep phobia about sexuality and the frustration and anger it generates is close to the root of the mass neurosis that plagues the human race and creates so much misery and cruelty for people and all the other living beings we trample on.

I think we need to be thinking about this issue and taking it seriously if we want to move in a more emotionally healthy direction. Just going nude and thinking we are free of hangups would be superficial and kidding ourselves. But hung-up or not, I think moving in that direction in any way we can would be a very good thing. At the very least we should not react to activists like Gypsy with supercilious giggles and derision!
