Volatile situation with a friend and her 12 yr. old son. Needs to get restraining order against mentally ill, violent father, and petition for full custody.
She's looking in the yellow pages, and I said I'd try to get a referral that someone on Wacco has experience with. She's overburdened and unwell, so I'm trying to do what I can to assist.
We need to move fast, before something serious happens; it's looking like "the perfect storm" conditions, and I feel afraid for her, and vulnerable..
I can't share more without risking their privacy and safety

Have you contacted Legal Aid of Sonoma County? This situation sounds like one that fits their programs. Regarding finding an attorney who would be paid, I'd start with the County Bar Association referral service if no one on Wacco comes thru with a known referral.
Good luck and thanks for caring....

If safety's a priority--and it sure sounds like it is--she should just get down to the sheriff's office and get that restraining order. no lawyer needed.
