You were certain of her victory because you stood in a Marta bus station
handing out tiny little chartreuse colored flyers to people whose face
lit up when they saw her name on a little 3 x 7 card. It was all her
campaign could afford when he had $70,000 of republican money and all
she had was $10,000. Excited by the 10 out of every 11 people who
vocally and enthusiastically supported Cynthia: Black women, black men,
white women, Hispanics, asians and yes, even white men, smiling with joy
as you become the representative of McKinney, representing the most
powerful voice of truth in Washington. The voice of reason, the voice
of peace, the voice of accountability, that unshakable, courageous
McKinney voice.
You knew when you looked them square in the eye, that they know her
strength, even her detractors and it makes those angry McKinney haters
the most uncomfortable, because the truth is so uncomfortable. When
they push her away, it's their own guilt for staying home that election
day, or choosing a VP position instead of time with the kids, or even so
banal as shopping at Walmart those liberal progressives, you know the
ones in Winona park. That comfortable little white community near Agnes
Scott, the ones that voted against their own self interest. Casting a
non-ballot in support of a US that commits genocide to entire cultures,
a US that props up its stock market and banks with fake reports of
growth instead-teetering dangerously on the brink of ruin, a US that is
too cowardly to confront the mother of a dead soldier, Cindy Sheehan.
These are the same ones that voted for a man who said when he got to
Washington DC he'd be "quiet". You know those limosine liberals who
didn't give Cynthia one red cent of their hard earned, expoitive
ill-gotten gains.
But it's that 11th person in the bus station that hates Cyntha and spits
at you, and says 'no way, I'm not voting for that crazy woman'. He's
the one I wonder about. I wonder how he will feel when his social
security fund went to pay for a few more weapons in
Lebanon/Iraq/Syria/Iran/Afghanistan when Bush commits his children to a
war that we have no business fighting. When a white man in a mercedes
gets out of his car, after yelling 'don't you dare vote for that crazy
commie bitch', and after you smile and nail up one more yardsign, he
yells again, this time louder and in front of his 5 year old daughter.
Apparently his guilt is so strong, he gladly involves his family in his
own anger and fear of a simple, black woman wearing a black and white
polka dotted bowtie in her hair. A black woman who's smile is so wide
and innocent, it's hard to imagine how she got to be sitting there in
that same chair MLK used to occupy.
Amazing the power of this woman over millions of angry entitled white
men. She must be winning. I knew that day, McKinney is winning by a
landslide, not only in her election but in making a difference in the
United States of Greed.
Because they live in a world of fear and Cynthia, well, she does not.
Having men from Saudia Arabia try to break into her house did not break
her spirit, no, not for one moment. And that's why her campaign to win
another shot at 2 years in DC was a heroic struggle, that's why I know
she will be back stronger than ever, though possibly not in DC.
Because in the end that legislator role had her in hand-cuffs. When the
democratic leaders like Pelosi kick her off committees because they are
afraid of her extreme genius, her international savvy and her worldwide
fame. Indeed, 12 years later, she has made her mark. The people of
Dekalb and Clarkston and all over Georgia have felt the brilliance of
this woman in their lives. She does not need to live as a caged bird
any longer. No my friends, the 58 to 42 Joke of an election result,
which none of us in the election integrity community believes for one
second, this was only a blessing in disguise. Because she deserves so
much better than being Washington's whipping child. Starting today, Ms.
McKinney moves onto bigger and better things.
Because McKinney is a better activist than she is a politician.
Politicians compromise, while Cynthia never could. Politicians join the
democratic or republican party and bargain pieces of their soul with
vendors like Diebold to make sure their race is rigged accordingly.
How'd that bargaining work for you Cathy Cox? They can't sleep at
night, Cynthia always could. Politicians like Howard Dean who came out
against the war initially and then grew silent, a kind of deafening
silence that sends chills down the spine of his once loyal supporters.
No Cynthia is not about anything other than simply helping people see
how powerful they are, to take back the country those evil GOP men (and
one puppet black GOP woman) have stolen from us. It's ironic that they
have to steal Cynthia's race from her so that she cannot show us how
they steal from us. And where is that $21Billion dollars Mr. Rumsfeld?
Her questions are the only questions anyone in the US should be asking.
Indeed, Cynthia only ever wanted us to see that one voice, lifted up in
song, such as Pink's song, so soothing it could heal the heartache of a
night of electoral fraud and complete supporter devastation. At a time
when the 11Alive cameras wanted her to be a good little girl and
concede, the cameras swung too hard and hurt 2 loyal supporters drawing
blood. The same 11Alive that published a bogus, no-name poll paid for
by the Chamber of Commerce on election day showing Hank's 13 point
margin.
Instead, when they wanted her to concede, she sang. Good for Cynthia,
she sang. The words to a song so brilliant, mere mortals were shaking
to see the smile on her face while she sang "Dear Mr. President.. We're
not dumb and we're not blind". I think Ms. McKinney will have the last
say on this election, the same way she came back after the first time
they threw her out of office. I am confident that a woman who chooses
to sing to the very people that would take her civil rights away, the
most fundamental right, the right to vote, well a woman that can sing to
her victimizer is a woman of great integrity and woman I will personally
support as long as I live.
