Hello Wacco Community: Has anyone experienced COSTCO eye exams (https://www.costco.com/optical.html)? They cost less than regular optometrists and as a retiree without insurance I am considering COSTCO... please reply publicly.

I had an eye exam there years ago, same doctor who is there now. He seemed competent then but not particularly friendly. I called there recently to ask a question about contact lenses and he seemed much friendlier. However, he does not deal in hard contact lenses.
I have been very impressed with Dr. Wagner at JC Penney Optical in Santa Rosa. He has lots of experience and letters after his name but he is also a warm human being. An eye exam with him at JCP costs $79, comparable to Costco. JC Penney has a good selection of frames with frequent sales and discounts of 50%-60%, even on progressive bifocals.. The opticians, especially Pam, are great.
