It is about time that state officials start fining vintner's for the illegal things they have been doing that pollute our water. To most of us this $579,700 fine would be a lot of money. But to wealthy vintners it is merely the cost of doing business. This violation goes back to 2013. What took the state so long to make this decision? Perhaps it is because of the rise of criticism of the over-developed wine industry.
Notorious "bad apple" vintner Paul Hobbs settled with the County for $100,000 for his water violations. People from the Watertrough Children's Alliance observed those violations and reported them. When Hobbs charges something like $300 a bottle for his elite wine, he can continue such violations. Following is a link to something that I posted on Wacco, back in 2013, regarding the Hobbs violation.
