It’s the dream for any third party candidate running for President to make headlines just days before a general election debate. But recently, the headlines for former New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson haven’t exactlybeen the type that he’s been hoping to get.

Gary Johnson is in the news again because he did or said something wacky and/or zany. Has he realized that nobody pays attention to him until he acts weird? Is he just a weird dude? Also, his plan for global warming is to ignore it until we die. "The one time Republican turned Libertarian party candidate for the White House went instantly viral two weeks ago during an interview with MSNBC’s Morning Joe. Johnson, who touts his GOP executive experience in a heavily blue state, asked columnist Mike Barnicle point black, “What is Aleppo?” in reference to the refugee crisis in Syria.

And today’s bizarre turn may not help things much either. NBC News’s Kasie Hunt interviewed Johnson about pulling even in some of the battleground state polls if he were able to get onto the debate stage with Hillary Clintonand Donald Trump (Johnson fell short of qualifying for Monday night’s debate in Long Island). “There would be an examination of me and [Vice Presidential candidate] Bill Weld as who we are and what we’ve done,” he said. He then stuck his tongue out, bit it, and somewhat coherently said (I think): “I’m not gonna stand up there for the whole debate and not say anything and [incomprehensible].””*

Gary Johnson Says The Sun Will Eventually Destroy Earth, So Screw Climate Change Action

Published on Sep 25, 2016
In what could be the most repulsive excuse for not acting on climate change in recent memory, Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson said that yes, the climate is warming, but in a few billion years the sun will grow large and engulf the planet, so we really shouldn’t worry about climate change. Ring of Fire’s Farron Cousins discusses this. SUBSCRIBE.

That someone so profoundly ignorant is even running for President is quite scary. His ignorance approaches, but does not exceed, that of Donald Trump.

Why are young people flocking to Gary Johnson's presidential campaign? Perhaps it's his plan to combat global warming, or his tongue-in-cheek debate strategy.

Gary Johnson Couldn’t Name North Korea’s Leader, Kim Jong-Un (https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/gary-johnson-north-korea-leader_us_57f5b823e4b05f39c51e3e3b?section=&)

Yet another embarrassing Aleppo moment for the Libertarian presidential nominee. Gary Johnson (https://www.huffingtonpost.com/news/gary-johnson/), the Libertarian presidential nominee, can’t seem to catch a break. After a couple of very public mistakes, including asking an interviewer what Aleppo was (https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/the-internet-is-having-a-great-morning-ripping-apart-gary-johnson_us_57d15f16e4b03d2d45988a63) and the time he struggled to name a foreign leader (https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/gary-johnson-world-leader_us_57ec59b2e4b0c2407cdbc29c) he admired, the former governor of New Mexico on Wednesday had another embarrassing moment. When The New York Times asked Johnson (https://mobile.nytimes.com/2016/10/06/us/politics/gary-johnson-campaign.html)if he knew the name of North Korea’s leader, he answered simply, “I do.”

But when the Times pressed him to produce a name, Johnson reportedly said, dryly, “You want me to name ... Really.” Johnson didn’t name the North Korean leader, the Times article suggested. (The dictator’s name, by the way, is Kim Jong-un (https://www.huffingtonpost.com/news/kim-jong-un/).) The lapses seem to suggest that Johnson needs to brush up on his knowledge of the world and U.S. foreign policy if he wants to be president...

Clueless Gary Johnson: Kim Jong What Now?

The Young Turks, Published on Oct 6, 2016
Gary Johnson has stepped in it again. Proudly ignorant of the outside world, he didn’t know Kim Jong Un runs North Korea. Wouldn’t be nice if a candidate was anti-war because they fully understood the failings of imperial foreign policy and how destructive it is to the outside world? Instead we get “don’t know, don’t care” Gary Johnson. Cenk Uygur, host of The Young Turks, breaks it down. "After several foreign affairs gaffes, Libertarian presidential nominee Gary Johnson sidestepped an opportunity to somewhat redeem himself and demonstrate that he’s knowledgeable about the world.

In an interview on Wednesday, the New York Times asked Johnson, a former governor of New Mexico, if he knew the name of North Korea’s leader. “I do,” the third-party candidate replied. “You want me to name” the person, he continued, before adding, “Really.” Johnson ultimately declined to provide a name. The current “supreme leader” of North Korea is Kim Jong Un, who succeeded his father, Kim Jong Il, in 2011. Johnson’s inability or refusal to name Kim follows several slip-ups when pressed on knowledge of international relations. In early September, Johnson was widely ridiculed after drawing a blank on “Morning Joe” when asked about Aleppo, the most populous city in Syria and the epicenter of the ongoing refugee crisis. Johnson recently failed to provide the name of a foreign leader whom he admires during an appearance on MSNBC. He subsequently attributed this to the shortcomings of the world’s leaders.”
