Three new government agencies are being formed in Sonoma County. They will have the authority to tax, regulate and limit groundwater use.

This is quite exciting! Thanks for letting us know, Rich!

I strongly suggest everybody with an interest on how our groundwater is used, go to https://sonomacountygroundwater.org/ and check out the wealth of information there. This a great time to get involved. The info below is from their website:

Public Workshops are scheduled this summer for each basin (Petaluma Valley, Sonoma Valley and Santa Rosa Plain).

The focus of the workshops will be receiving input from the public on the formation of Groundwater Sustainability Agencies (GSA). GSA-eligible agencies have agreed conceptually on one GSA and one Groundwater Sustainability Plan (GSP) per basin. The format and basic agenda (see below) for each workshop will be similar, although the facilitated discussion and discussion questions may differ basin-to-basin.

Please come to the workshops with your questions and ideas — and please spread the word to other stakeholders.
