Don't pray for Paris;
Prayer is the modus of the perpetrators:
Those who claim a higher calling to commit whatever deeds Belief will justify
Against our lowly, fallen flesh and blood.
No need to think or feel; all I need is Belief to make this so.
Or a bullet from a gun; same difference, No rhyme nor Reason.
The righteous murderer wields the hand of god and strikes down doubt and reason
and mops them in our blood.
The porcelain demitasse lies shattered,
Pale splintered fragments littering the cobblestone.
The secular, terrace meal is frozen in time, interrupted between the courses;
Our lives pause forever between courses.

Even though it’s no longer safe to dine outdoors under the streetlights,
Reason is the enemy of Belief, so seek no Reason in Faith.
Don't ask 'why?' instead ask, 'au nom de quoi ?'

The claret flows rough tonight so swallow down hard,
It'll help choke back the tears.
