Subject: Thursday in Sacramento: Can you help pass these key climate bills?

A big fight for the California climate movement is coming to a head this Thursday:

After the landmark coal divestment bill passed last week in the State Assembly, two key climate bills are still on the table. They’re facing a super close vote, and now’s the time for a last push.

Can you join us this Thursday morning in Sacramento to support California’s climate bills? Here are the details:

WHAT: Rally to support California’s climate bills before the State Assembly vote
WHEN: Thursday, September 10, 9:30 AM
WHERE: California State Capitol Building, Sacramento, 3rd floor in front of the Assembly floor gate

Can’t make it on Thursday? You can still help by making a 5-minute phone call, right now:

Click here to call your State Assembly Member. Ask them to vote “yes” on SB 350 and against Big Oil.

If passed, SB 350 would help beat back climate change by increasing renewable energy by 50 percent by 2030, cutting petroleum use by 50 percent by 2030, and boosting energy efficiency in buildings. SB 32 would ensure that the state’s policy is to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 80 percent below 1990 levels by 2050.

These bills constitute a strong step toward climate leadership, and Big Oil is fighting hard to keep them from passing.

SB 350 and SB 32 will either pass or fail on Thursday. We need your help to show that the public supports these bills -- and that we DON’T support any amendments that water them down to protect fossil fuel interests.

Let’s show our political leaders in Sacramento that it’s time to stand up for climate justice and against Big Oil.
