Hmm ... the internet was full of reports about Putin missing yesterday .. and then reports came out that he will be giving a big speech this weekend ... this seems accurate as there are photos of trucks delivering chairs in preparation for this ...
I was trying to verify this report as European Times has published some questionable stories, but then ex-congresswoman Cynthia McKinney posted this ...
there are also reports of both American and Russian troops being moved into place ... scary stuff ...

Scary, for sure! And weird. The United States seems hell-bent to go to war with Russia, and for no intelligible reason except that it does not want to compete with Russia economically on the world market. Of course, economics has been the reason for most U.S. wars, although, like now, seldom the stated reason. What's even weirder is that there is no American peace movement any more. You would think, given the seriousness of the situation, that there would be massive peace mobilizations, but everybody is very quiet. Programs on KPFA, like Democracy Now and the KPFA news department hardly mention the media drumbeat to war and the threatening moves against Russia by the US and NATO. All you hear are stories about Ferguson, immigrant rights, sometimes some stuff about the NSA and being spied on by the government. While important, of course, such issues pale beside this insane buildup to war.

good observations, phredo ...
the whole thing is bizarre ... what I do know is that Russia is one of the countries that has been challenging the World Bank with BRICS, an alternative world funding system ... not too popular with the financial elite for obvious reasons ...
If we are indeed an oligarchy. and most scholars agree that we are, then our military would be used to protect the financial superiority of those who own us ...
Whatever the reason, it does seem that Putin is in trouble ... there are verifiable reports of his body guard having been murdered ...
there is so much in the world that is just not right at the moment ... not very comforting regardless of the reasons ...
Scary, for sure! And weird. ...

this is also interesting ...

why are there no peace protests? ... well, leaders have been silenced and groups have been infiltrated and destroyed, activists have been discredited, whistle blowers have been destroyed and journalists have been threatened ... if there were protests, you'd never see them because the bought and paid for media won't cover them ... except for those protests meant to distract you from all of this ...
Yeah, the world didn't get destroyed this time, but it no way invalidates the seriousness of the US push towards war and the media vacuum of information, well, really, war mongering. By the way, I liked your comments about economics and peace protests in your last two posts. Obviously, there's a lot more that could be said about all that.
I agree phredo ... there are reports all over the place today about Russia ... I don't pretend to know the truth of it all, but the facts are obvious ... this is just one of the articles that I noticed ...
also, don't forget that Russia has Snowden and all of the intelligence that he took with him ... we seem to be in the middle of a murky power struggle right now and I'm hoping for clarity and resolution, as most citizens are ...
this is not a time to stay asleep or to pretend that everything is alright with the world just because mainstream media is quiet ... we, as a nation, are incredibly aggressive right now and actually our military is started to rebel ...
In my own life there has been continual drama possibly meant to silence me including a serious threat to my ex husband who complained of feeling ridiculously fatigued while on the road the other day ... seriously, he had to pull off the road three times to maintain control of his vehicle ... if you have followed my story, including my radio interview, I complained of the same thing and actually passed out cold while driving one day ... had I not pulled into a parking lot at the last moment I would be gone ... all documented by the Kaiser emergency room ...
one can only stay vigilant and do lots of research ...
