Why does WaccoBB.net have categories? Surely Google (https://www.google.com) and it's search box (https://www.google.com) has demonstrated that a very large database (8,168,684,336 web pages!) can be easily managed/navigated that way, so why not WaccoBB.net? After all, that IS how the original Yahoo! Wacco Group was set up, right??

Also, NOT having categories for WaccoBB.net would make it easier for members to post as they wouldn't have to consider which category - or categories - their posts *should* go to in the first place - they could simply post.

This site has catagories in part because some of us begged Barry for years to put them in. I was looking for something a little closer to craigslist when i first found wacco.

craigslist.org (https://www.craigslist.org) (launched in 1995) is a HUGE site with some 800 million hits per month (https://www.latimes.com/technology/la-tm-craigslist24jun13,0,5550056.story?coll=la-headlines-technology) (that's 450 per second!) - making it one of the top-twenty portals on the Web. (WaccoBB.net is not craigslist...).

With the rapid rise of Google (launched in 1998) and it's search box to dominance of the Web as THE search engine in only seven years, how *most* people find their stuff has forever changed. Period. Why not follow Google's lead?

Oh, PLEASE don't get rid of categories! I liked the old waccoBB, but I typically got 5 or more digests of 25 emails every single day, and had to wade through tons of stuff I had no interest in. Now I am subscribed to just the categories I like, I get ONE email with just what I'm interested in! I love it! Instead of taking at least an hour to wade through it, I get through it in minutes! Yes!

"an hour to wade through it" - well that wasn't/isn't my experience. I receive individual emails for all categories, not daily digest. Also, Barry has assured us that he's going to have a "tool" (??) soon that will allow for an easy subscribe/unsubscribe to all categories, but for now you have to do it manually (takes about 15 minutes, ugh...but still worth doing), and then I use filters/folders to sort my mail (for details on how I do it, see my post https://www.waccobb.net/forums/showthread.php?p=1108#post1108) - only takes a few minutes a day to scan the titles, no big deal.
