Looking for non-toxic water softening options for Sebastopol home

Hello,

My household currently uses salt pellet water softening (diamond crystal's salt pellets with supersoft formula). I am trying to find out what exactly this formula is and what alternatives there are for softening water. I am concerned about absorbing chemicals (from the supersoft formula) through the skin while showering/bathing. I have sent an email to the company and am awaiting a reply.

Any information you can share will be greatly appreciated!
