On a flight home I sat in between two individuals, a Marine and boxing promoter. The boxing guy was an older gentleman, and told interesting stories, such as meeting Don King. Both men were very pleasant and that helped make time pass on the flight. We were all combat veterans and all Southerners, so we had a lot in common. Then the discussion, inevitably, turned to politics.

The older guy turned to the Marine and said "You know Obama is getting rid of the Marine Corps, right?"...




...Sure enough, I got back home and did some checking on the interwebs. Although I couldn't find anything about Obama disbanding the Corps, I did find a story that Obama was going to disband the National Guard and Reserves (https://www.breachbangclear.com/obama-executive-order-disbands-reserves-conscripts-crossfitters/) by fall of this year, a post that Hillary Clinton is, in fact, going to dismantle the Marine Corps (https://forums.military.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/6201970882/m/9350043361001), and various other hysteria/delusions in the mind of a brainwashed conservative.

I thought about the flight and wondered, how can such a seemingly intelligent, normal man suddenly suspend logic and spout such nonsense?...



...How can, on one hand, we discuss rationally our jobs, our cars, our families, and then BOOM, a switch goes off and FEMA camps (https://www.altnews.info/fema-concentration-camps/), immigrant take-over, birth certificate time-travel (https://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread695722/pg1), Sandy Hook being a hoax (https://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/01/16/sandy-hook-conspiracy-theory-video-debunked_n_2487427.html), and the ever present secret army of "jack-booted thugs" (you know, the bad kind who take your guns away, not the good kind who shoot unarmed brown people).

...Do you realize that the article is a commentary!?...
...Do you understand that the commentary has relevant facts about some of the hows and whys that people believe the lies that are perpetuated by Fox News and others?...

BTW, FWIW, for all to see my reasoning:

I did mention in the original post that the article is a "commentary" so as not to mislead anyone to believing that it was an in-depth investigative report of some sort.

However, the fact that so many American people do believe all the bullshit lies on various RW websites, Fox News etc. is a serious issue which does have enough merit to raise my concern as a news-worthy topic on it's own, and that commentary article does have at least some info, albeit not so much in-depth as a full-on investigative report that a team of seasoned professional journalists would have produced after vetting it first... ...But as I stated: “commentary”.

I decided to keep the title of the article as it was but thought that putting the word (in quotes) ““titled”” before the original title as the title of the actual post topic.
I decided that to title it that way was adequate enough for waccobb readers to have enough of a 'Heads-up' about what kind of article it is.

I do admit I do have a sarcastic darkish humor at times.
I did get a sense of a kind of humor that not everyone recognizes and/or appreciates from the way the commentary was written and thought at least some others on waccobb would also see the same 'humor' amongst the seriousness of the subject matters the commentary was trying to point out.

The links in the article were just points to some of the evidence of what the author was saying for those who are interested in (the) why and what the author was referring to in the first place so as not to be completely off-base and misunderstood altogether... ...FWIW ...I appreciate the links because they help to pinpoint at least some sources of misinformation and give reference.
