Greetings,
We are an older couple ( 65 and 60 ) on a fixed income and are homeless. We are reaching a point of desperation concerning our housing situation. We are currently living in a minivan, but need a better place to stay, since she is recovering from dual hip replacements, while awaiting a back surgery. Every morning my lady wakes up crying, and since she has been in her van for four years now, she is convinced that she is going to die on the streets. I won't bore you with details, but suffice it to say that I am beginning to give up any ideas that I may ever have had about finding us a place to call our own.
As for “the shelters” that many well intentioned folks have suggested we go to, we have applied, and are still waiting, though surrendering our last small amount of freedom is not something we look forward to doing. And from our perspective, most places we've checked into, have a generic living plan for everyone, and our experience is that these places and/or programs are mainly geared to making more money for their particular agenda, and/or making themselves look good. Sorry to say that the most offered help we've received is yet another phone number promising the same things, but giving the same results: another phone number, or a computer link.We have found that asking for help with most agencies, only results in an endless cycle of disappointment. We know that some of these places do deliver, but just not for us.We barely have enough to live on, as she only has a limited income, and I am battling with SSI, who have decided that a $20,000 inheritance back in 2011, made me somehow, magically less disabled, and denied my benefits.
The result is that I lost everything I've ever owned. That is not how I want to live, but it's just the way it is, and it is very humbling to not be able to support myself or my lady. I try to “earn my keep” as it were by attending to her needs as she convalesces. We are grateful for what we have, and when we can, we make the effort to help those less fortunate than ourselves.
What we are thinking is this: if you have an rv that is in decent shape and legal, perhaps you might need some or all of the following, and if so, then we should talk. Computer building or repair or tutoring (mac or pc), electrical, plumbing, and all phases of remodeling/construction ( with the exception of roofing ) and mechanical repairs/projects. I am good at engineering parts etc. if and when it's called for, as long as I'm provided with clear instructions, proper supplies and materials, and the right tools. We wish we had the cash to buy one outright, but we do not. We can do some cash for rent/purchase of your rv, along with any of the above mentioned skills in exchange for rent or payment and are willing to let you hold the title of our 2000 Chrysler Town andCountry as part of a deal for your rv. If you have any other ideas about creative financing, we are open to most legal ideas. The whole point is that we really need a larger place than a minivan to live in. We are old school, meaning that our word is our bond. We aren't drunks or druggies, just an older couple down on their luck who need a break. And to those of you who have helped before, you are the greatest. Many blessings, Ray and Shawn :Yinyangv:
