Interesting! People are already using "HHO" systems in their vehicles that produce hydrogen and oxygen by electrolysis of water to increase their fuel efficiency (I've heard claims of up to 50% increase in MPG). As hydrogen stations become more common, it may well be possible to retrofit gas and diesel vehicles so they at least use much less conventional fuel. Whether or not they can run on straight hydrogen will depend a lot on the cost of both the fuel and retrofitting.

The challenge is to produce hydrogen without adding greenhouse gases to the atmosphere. Electrolysis of water is one method but not terribly efficient. Using urine or urea in an electrolysis cell designed for those waste products requires much less energy than water to produce the same amount of hydrogen.
