Native Endogenous Heartsong Ritual

I sit in the center of these Redwood trees

That was planted long ago for the Chief named Kota’ti.

Sacred trunks form the circle lined with ancient leaves

With lifted arms opened wide to gather up energies.

I seek only wisdom as a Medicine Man

While calling for Peace to spread across this land.

I partake of this peace pipe to connect with the divine

And to leave all the cruelties of this world behind.

To worship inside this sacred realm as a protected place

And to leave behind the material world’s unseemly pace.

I sent sacred energy up to their tips above

And asked them to send it back into the earth with love.

I sit in my own judgments left to do things right

As warriors fight their battles into cold dark nights.

But, who is to say if I am right or wrong,

The drunk Butterfly or in the Hummingbird’s dissonant song?

Then silence is broken by the Hawk’s high screech

With native drums heard echoing some ancestral beats.

The great native spirit now descends upon me

As one with the universe is what I seek to be.

This ancient ground worship is to be spiritually free

Where nature’s profusions will enrapture me.

The Great Ancestral Spirits gliding in upon the Vulture’s wings

To impart a deeper meaning of Gratitude felt for every thing.

My heart is filled with gladness now and I shall leave this ring

With sacred ritual concluded now my heart can sing.
